Lying at the foot of Marlborough Downs western edge, Compton Bassett Cricket Club ground enjoys one of the most idyllic settings for a rural village cricket team. It is a scene of almost unparalleled beauty and a rustic quality abounds that includes the infamous clubhouse. The unsophisticated nature is matched by the team itself; they are an eclectic mix of honest journeymen, many of whom have lost a certain spring in their stride.
As a result they are always looking for new members who can push the old ones in their wheelchairs from crease to crease.
